The Control4 4Sight service is used for a bunch of things. Most importantly for our customers is secure remote access. We do not leave your network vulnerable by leaving ports open on your network to provide access to Control4. Control4 uses bank level encryption and a VPN style connection to get into your home remotely. Beyond remote access 4Sight provides the ability for services such as voice (Amazon Alexa and Google Voice integration if you desire to use either of these), email/text and/or push notifications if you ever want any of these types of alerts to be setup/programmed with Control4 and a service called When/Then (Accessible via customer.control4.com using your C4 credentials which provides you the ability to do automation programming on your own if you desire). In summary, you do not need this service for your Control4 system to continue to work, but if you want to be able to use the app when you’re away from the home to control anything within C4 – security, cameras, HVAC, lighting, door lock, intercom, etc. you would need to pay for the 4Sight service.
